What is the difference between a trunnion ball valve and a floating ball valve?

A trunnion ball valve has the ball supported by upper and lower trunnions (stems), making it ideal for large diameter (DN150+) and high-pressure applications (Class 600–2500) with lower operating torque. A floating ball valve has the ball free to float against the downstream seat, providing bubble-tight sealing for smaller sizes (DN15–DN250) at lower to medium pressures (Class 150–1500).
